Methods to Bolster Children’s Immunity System

What would one do to protect its kids from the countless viruses and bacteria he encounters on a daily basis? Children build their immunity by fighting a constant stream of germs, viruses, and other species, which is why many paediatricians consider six to eight colds, flu episodes, or ear infections to be a “normal” number of colds, flu episodes, or ear infections. Moreover, there are some practices that act as an immune booster for kids and help in protecting them from the unhygienic environment around them.

  • Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you serve.

Carotenoids, which are immune-boosting phytonutrients, are found in broccoli, green beans, citrus fruits, and strawberries. Phytonutrients can boost the development of virus-fighting blood cells and interferon, a bacteria-blocking antibody that covers cell surfaces.

  • They must regularly exercise

Exercise has been shown to expand the proportion of natural killer cells in humans. Thus, physical activity may have the same effect in children as well. Be a positive role model for your children to develop a lifelong exercise habit. Work out with your children instead of just telling them to go out there and play.

  • Include Malt- based products

Malt-based drinks like Horlicks drink help in bolstering their immune system. These beverages are highly rich in nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants that the toddlers require. It is recommended to add such products in their diet for them to lead a healthy lifestyle.

  • Increase the amount of time they sleep.

Sleep deprivation has been shown in research studies for adults. This makes them more vulnerable to illness by lowering neutrophils, immune-system arms that destroy microbes and cancer cells. Children are in the same boat. A baby can need up to 16 hours of bed time per day, children 11 to 14 hours, and kindergartners 10 to 13 hours. Children in day-care are especially vulnerable to sleep loss due to the high level of activity they do.
